I saw this beer today, and by saw I mean drank. It has a nice bite. I would like to get my nose on some Sapphire hops and do a little comparison. The following is from the Beck's website
"MADE SMOOTH WITH GERMAN SAPPHIRE HOPS
Introducing Beck’s Sapphire, our new pilsner brewed with rare German Sapphire (Saphir) hops for a distinctively smooth taste and brewed to 6 percent ABV. Beck’s Sapphire represents a new standard for beer.
To serve this uniquely smooth pilsner, our engineers spent over two years developing an exclusive, sleek black glass bottle. This bottle not only protects our beer from light better than common brown bottles, it also provides a distinguishing image for Beck’s Sapphire.
As with all Beck’s beers, Beck’s Sapphire is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516 and uses only four natural ingredients."
I was in Lafayette Indiana and stopped by People's Brewing. I got there 15 minutes before they closed but was able get a flight +1 in. The tasting room was not very large but it was comfortable and inviting. The Mound Builder IPA was good and even better on Nitro. check out their webpage to see the descriptions of the beers. If you are visiting Purdue it is worth stopping by and grabbing a pint.
Ok I have seen and tried a few Oyster Stouts and for the most part they have been tasty with just a slight hint of oyster on the back end. However, this one is just plain NUTTY. It started as an April Fools joke and well ....
